TESTIMONIALS

As a parent, we send our children off to pre-school with the desire that they are safe, nurtured and engaged to learn in a fun filled environment. GNCS is that special place, where children come first! My children enjoyed science exploration, everyday weather permitting outdoor play in an amazing playground/fantasy world, caring teachers with plenty of hugs, and an overall enriching experience. GNCS is a great place to start the education of a child's mind and spirit.

The warm and bright environment of GNCS made it easy for me to send my son each week knowing he was spending time in a safe nurturing environment. As an educator myself, I understand the importance of learning through exploration; and with his caring teachers he is having fun, exploring new things, learning and growing. I couldn't ask for better partners to contribute great lessons and memories to my son's learning experiences.
Parent of Quinn (2010-2012)

My son had a tough time separating from me at the time of his enrollment. The teachers and staff at GNCS not only nurtured, supported and helped him through this very precarious time of his young life - but supported me as well. I adored the environment in which he now has grown to love more than anything in the world. The diversity at this school is also something that should never be overlooked. My son has learned so much about other people's cultures, families and customs - and he's only 3 years old. We really couldn't ask for more.
Avanti (2009-2011)

An experienced and nurturing staff, specialized attention, warm and cozy classrooms, sprawling playground... Not only was GNCS a wonderful first school experience for all my kids, I also grew as a parent. Here's to 78 more years!
Parent of Ally, Casey & Whitney (2004-2010)

GNCS is the perfect school for children whose parents want them to learn while playing, develop, while exploring. The well-informed early childhood staff take the time to extend learning of each individual child while still fostering a strong sense of community. Enrichment classes, music instruction, the largest outdoor playground, and a physical education program appropriate for the very young round out the school day, guaranteed to make any toddler or pre-schooler happy!
Mom of Nico (2005), Luca (2007) and Dália (2009)

Both of my children had wonderful experiences at GNCS. I watched my older daughter blossom and grow here. When she went on to kindergarten, she was excited and ready to learn more. My younger daughter is enjoying her third year at Community School. I am so happy that she is spending her 4's year here. The teachers at this school know how to nurture each child's interests. The children experience the joy of learning every day in a creative and ever-adapting environment. I couldn't imagine sending my children anywhere else.

Our family's experience at GNCS has been very unique. We always felt acceptance from the start of each of my three children's time here. Barbara and her incredibly warm and nurturing staff of accredited teachers saw my kids through some challenging times. My husband and I, along with our three children have been affected profoundly by our years at GNCS. The children have all been successful so far at school and I attribute their success to the excellent foundation they received here. My volunteerism and community service throughout recent years have their roots in GNCS.

My husband and I chose GNCS based on its excellent reputation in the community. We were hearing great things about GNCS from the time our first child was born. Our oldest son attended the 3’s and 4’s at GNCS and had a wonderful experience. So, when it came time to register our two youngest (twins), we didn’t think twice. We knew that GNCS would provide them with an excellent pre-school experience. Their time at GNCS was memorable, fun, warm and caring, and full of opportunities to learn and grow. In addition to a wonderful staff and a wonderful director, GNCS has the most amazing playground!

I could not have been happier with the nurturing and enriching educational environment that GNCS provided. The teachers were warm, loving and willing to work with individual needs. Both my children, who are of almost opposite nature, thrived there.
Parent of Lauren and Amanda (2004-2008)

My kids loved GNCS. It is such a warm, nurturing environment. We love Barbara, Lisa and all the wonderful teachers there. We will always have fond memories of Mayfair, Fall Festival and the spectacular Parent Galas at Harbor Links!
Parent of Nick & Mika (2004-2008)

My daughter’s days at the Great Neck Community School were some of my fondest memories. She had an amazing experience; the environment was warm, nurturing and safe. She looked forward to seeing her teachers and friends every day. If you are looking for a special, very unique pre-school experience, look no further than GNCS. You will feel as though you have stepped back in time going into the charming building with an incredible history. The diversity is wonderful, the enrichments offered great exposure to so many wonderful programs and learning opportunities when she was in their 4’s program. The school is run by some of the most caring people you will ever meet, they truly love what they do every day and it shows. The co-op structure allows you to get involved in ways you might not at a traditional pre-school. You never realize how special that is until you go onto the public school system. I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to be so involved at the school during my daughter’s pre-school years and it is something I will cherish forever.

GNCS is a place where children are able to quench their thirst for learning. Under the finest directorship, early childhood educators are able to effectively work with children, in a lovely school house setting, to learn and to explore the world. I can think of no finer place than GNCS for a first childhood educational experience. Having had this positive start has most definitely given my children and I a love for school and has set the foundation for a love of learning for life!

Great Neck Community School is a place that reflects wonderment and enrichment. My kids loved going there and so did I.
Judy Liman, Hallie & Allison's mom (2001-2006)

I believe my children are more confident and have better self esteem because of the experiences they had at GNCS. The love and individualized attention they received was terrific and I feel so thankful that both of my children were able to grow and thrive in that nurturing environment.
Jill Madenberg (2000-2006)

Great Neck Community School was one of our BEST choices as parents. The school was more like an extension of home. It was a safe place where an abundance of nurturing took place. It was a place where my children learned socialization skills and tolerance. It created a rock solid foundation which is crucial for the rest of one's life. In addition to the fabulous projects and fundamental learning that goes on, GNCS is really more than a school...it's a second home. It's a magical place that has touched our lives...for that we are forever grateful.
Parents of Rebecca & Phillip (2001-2005)

I can't say enough good things about my family's experience at GNCS. Both my children and I made friends there that we are still close with today. GNCS is a warm, creative and nurturing school with the most dedicated and caring teachers, staff and director that I have ever known. I know that my children benefited greatly (both academically and socially) from their years at GNCS, and I appreciate the opportunity that the school's "co-op" structure gave me to get involved as a parent and help the school achieve its mission of providing exceptional preschool education to all of its students. My family will always cherish our memories of GNCS!
Jane Tucker, GNCS parent (2000-2005) & former Co-Chairperson (2004-2005)

My association with GNCS began in 1974, just before my first child, Joshua, began as a student. I served in several positions on the board before I became Chairperson in 1976, when my second child, Rachel, was in the four year old class. After my third child, Jill, was born, I began substituting at GNCS. A permanent position opened and the next 11 years were joyfully spent as a member of an incredible staff, first under the leadership of Phyllis Sotnick and then, Mitzi Weissman. In the spring of 1988, an opportunity to teach Kindergarten in the Great Neck Public Schools became available. And, though, I physically left the confines of GNCS, my heart has always stayed there. My daughter, Rachel Venegas, taught at GNCS and two of my grandchildren have attended as students. Everything that I ever needed to know, I learned at GNCS. For the past 23 years, I have taught first grade at Lakeville School. I would never have succeeded in any of these positions if it had not been for my learning experiences at my favorite nursery school.
